Director of Photography Services
Experienced DPs for film, TV, commercials, and documentaries throughout Spain.
A Director of Photography shapes the visual narrative of a production through creative decisions about lighting, camera movement, lens selection, and composition. Spain's renowned Mediterranean light and diverse landscapes — from Almería's desert (the setting for countless Spaghetti Westerns) to Barcelona's modernist architecture — have nurtured cinematographers like Óscar Faura AEC and Javier Aguirresarobe AEC ASC, whose work showcases Spanish visual mastery.
We connect you with experienced Directors of Photography who understand both the creative and practical demands of your production. Whether you are shooting at Ciudad de la Luz studios in Alicante or on location in Seville, our team matches your project with DPs who bring the right visual sensibility, supported by Spain's national and regional tax incentive programs and equipment from rental houses like Ovide and Cinetools.

Spanish DPs from José Luis Alcaine and Javier Aguirresarobe AEC ASC through the ECAM Madrid and ESCAC Barcelona bench
Here is how this works in practice. Spain's Director of Photography roster carries one of European cinema's deepest cinematography lineages. José Luis Alcaine AEC ASC stands as the Pedro Almodóvar regular — Volver, Pain and Glory, Parallel Mothers. Defining the saturated emotional-melodrama palette that became Spanish arthouse's global signature. Javier Aguirresarobe AEC ASC photographed The Others, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the Twilight saga, The Road 2009 and Spider-Man Far From Home. Ranging from intimate Almodóvar work to Marvel tentpole. Néstor Almendros (Spanish-born emigré, ASC Hall of Fame) won the 1978 Best Cinematography Oscar for Days of Heaven.
Here is the short of it. The natural-light masterpiece that still defines magic-hour shooting. Pau Esteve Birba shot Albert Serra's Pacifiction. Eduard Grau delivered Tom Ford's A Single Man and the wider Spanish indie bench, Mauro Herce photographed Dead Slow Ahead. And Rodrigo Prieto rounds out the cross-border Almodóvar collaborator pool. The AEC (Asociación Española de Autores de Fotografía Cinematográfica) sets up the local industry, with ECAM Madrid, ESCAC Barcelona. Universidad Carlos III and Bande à Part Barcelona feeding the camera-department pipeline.
Here is the breakdown. Engagements begin with a brief, reference deck, and budget envelope, narrowing to curated showreels and direct conversations before booking is locked. Our DPs are fluent across ARRI Alexa 35 and Alexa Mini LF, Sony Venice 2. And RED V-Raptor 8K packages drawn from Camara Movil Madrid (the Almodóvar partner). Vantage Spain (Hawk anamorphic expert with the Spaghetti Western Almería heritage). Welab Plus Barcelona, and Servicios Audiovisuales VSV. Lens options span Atlas Orion anamorphics, Cooke S7/i, ARRI Signature Primes and Hawk V-Lite vintage glass.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. First-AC and focus-puller crews come through AEC-certified rosters with the Spanish camera-department unions. Pulling from the inbound work that includes Game of Thrones (Andalucía + Almería + Bilbao + Girona), Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny. Pirates of the Caribbean Cádiz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Star Wars Attack of the Clones at Sevilla's Plaza de España. Solo Star Wars Story on Fuerteventura. Wonder Woman 1984 across Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, Black Crab on Fuerteventura. In the Heart of the Sea on Lanzarote and Money Heist at Mediapro Studios.
Here is how the picture comes together. Pre-production days cover shot lists, lens tests, and tech scouts across UNESCO heritage zones (Alhambra + Alcázar + Mezquita + Toledo + Salamanca). Canary Islands volcanic terrain under the 50% rebate. And Pyrenees + Picos de Europa peaks. Bilingual ES/EN joint work is standard with Catalan, Basque, Galician and Valencian ease on the regional bench.
