SCENE 01 / BOOM MICROPHONES
Boom Microphones
Professional shotgun microphones and boom equipment for your Spanish production.
Here is how this works in practice. Boom microphones are key for capturing clean dialogue and ambient sound on set. These directional microphones, mounted on extendable poles, allow operators to position the mic close to talent while keeping it out of frame, delivering focused audio pickup with minimal background interference.
Here is the short of it. We give access to a range of pro boom microphone systems. This includes shotgun mics, hypercardioid capsules, and lightweight boom poles suited to your shooting conditions. Our team sets up delivery and backup gear to keep your sound department operating smoothly across production.

Sennheiser MKH 416, MKH 8050, Schoeps CMIT 5U, and DPA 4017C shotgun inventory with K-Tek and Ambient boom poles through Audio Plus Madrid, Sound Spain, and Camara Movil
Here is how this works in practice. Boom microphone inventory in Spain ships through Audio Plus Madrid, Sound Spain, and the Camara Movil Madrid Audio Division. Shotgun microphone roster covers the full Spanish-broadcast standard. Sennheiser MKH 416 P48U3 as the workhorse for exterior dialogue across all conditions including Almería desert and Atlantic Galicia coastal sets. Sennheiser MKH 8050 hypercardioid for tight-quarters interior pickup where the MKH 416's wider 416 lobe would pick up too much room reverb. And Sennheiser MKH 8060 long-shotgun for the longer-throw exterior pickup on wide masters. Schoeps CMIT 5U stays the top-feature default.
Here is the short of it. The higher-resolution off-axis rejection and the warmer low-end response make it the choice on Almodóvar features and prestige drama where dialogue clarity through ADR-replacement-minimization is the priority. DPA 4017C and 4017B paired with the Rycote Cyclone windshield system fill the documentary and second-unit role. Plus Sanken CS-3e for the over-the-shoulder boom-op positions on tight-set blocking.
Here is the breakdown. Boom pole inventory leads with K-Tek Klassic and Avalon series in 3, 4, and 5-meter telescopic carbon-fiber configurations with internal cable routing for cable-noise elimination. Plus Ambient Quickpole QP5130 and QP580 with the Ambient Tinymike capsule integration. Windshield systems run the full Rycote and Cinela roster — Cyclone XL Mono for the larger MKH 416 and Schoeps CMIT exterior work. Cinela Pianissimo and Leonard for the tight-space interior. And Rycote Super-Softie minimal-rejection windjammers for the documentary-style run-and-gun.
Here is what that looks like on the ground. Summer 40°C-plus Andalucía and Almería heat from July through August needs explicit windshield rotation. The Rycote and Cinela fur becomes sweat-soaked across long master takes and we ship duplicate windshield sets to allow drying rotation between setups. CNMC range planning doesn't apply to wired boom mics. But the boom-op's IFB-IEM receiver to the mixer still goes through the Wisycom or Lectrosonics allocation request.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which shotgun mic do you recommend?
Here is the breakdown. The Sennheiser MKH 416 stays the industry standard for its versatility and reliability in many conditions. For quieter interiors, the Schoeps CMIT 5U gives top clarity. The Sanken CS-3e is great for reducing off-axis noise in challenging locations.
What boom pole lengths are available?
We stock boom poles from 2m to 6m in many configurations. Most shoots use 3-4m poles for standard work. We recommend K-Tek and Ambient poles with internal cable routing for clean, pro operation.
What wind protection do you provide?
We give complete windscreen systems from Rycote and Cinela suitable for any conditions—from light interior air movement to heavy exterior wind. Our kits have appropriate fur covers for the conditions you'll encounter.
Can you provide complete boom kits?
Yes, we give fully equipped boom packages including microphone, pole, shock mount, windscreen, cables, and all needed accessories. Kits are prepped and tested before delivery.
Do you offer backup equipment?
Yes, we recommend and can give backup microphones and key accessories for longer shoots. Having backup gear protects your production against any gear issues.
What about interior vs exterior mics?
While some shoots use different microphones for interior and exterior work, modern shotguns like the MKH 416 and CS-3e perform well in both environments. We can advise on the best way for your specific needs.
